5 Ways to Celebrate Mary in the Classroom this May

During the Month of May, we celebrate the Blessed Mother in the Church. Check out the ideas below for some fresh ways to celebrate Mary in the classroom.

1) Writing and Poetry

May is also National Poetry Month. What better way to celebrate Mary than by writing a poem about her? Check out this resource for writing templates and printables centered around the Blessed Mother. Also makes a beautiful bulletin board display!

2) Celebrate Mary in the Classroom with a May Crowning

Your school may be planning a large May Crowning procession, but you can also have a more intimate celebration within your own classroom. Have children bring flowers from home (or make paper ones) and display them around a statue of the Blessed Virgin in your class’s prayer space. Find more May Crowning ideas HERE.

3) Learn and Practice Marian Prayers

Familiarize students with the prayers, especially those they may not know by heart. Check out the following links for hands-on activities and videos to pray together:

5) Pray the Rosary

One of the best ways to honor Mary during the month of May is by praying the Rosary together. Remind children that we give our intentions to the Holy Mother, asking her to pray to her son, Jesus, for us.
